Cockfields Farm is just round the corner from us, it’s right on the border of Oldham and Tameside. We love visiting the farm all year round, but I love going when they have a special event on. They put so much effort and thought into your experience, making it extra special for the children.
Over the weekend we headed to Cockfields Farm for their annual Halloween Pumpkin Festival! The kids were so excited, they even put on their fancy dress costumes.
We arrived nice and early, which meant it was easy to park and it wasn’t too busy at all. There was a member of staff directing the cars which would be helpful as the car park starts to get busy. Once we were in we had a look around, the farm had been decorated brilliantly and all the staff looked fab! We decided to head straight to pick our pumpkins.
The pumpkin patch looked great, filled with hundreds of different sized and shaped pumpkins. The kids all ran around deciding with one to choose, there were even little wheelbarrows for them to use which was so cute and lots of fun. There is plenty of photo opportunities for parents to get a photo of their children in the field of pumpkins. Every child gets to choose a pumpkin from the patch before heading to the Carving Barn.
The carving barn was great, plenty of room and lots of staff on hand to help. There was also plenty of carving tools for the children and parents to get creating their masterpiece! A big bonus of the carving barn was we were able to leave the mess there!
As well as all the Halloween activities going on there was also all the fun of the farm to enjoy. We fed the animals, met the reptiles and cuddled the guinea pigs and baby chicks! My kids were so excited to see the animals, especially after recently attending the stay and play sessions at the farm ran by Little Forest Farmers Nursery. See here for more information about their brand new outdoor nursery.
Next we headed indoors so the kids could play in the toddler role play area and in the little cars, us parents relaxed with a hot drink and a bite to eat in the café. The café serves a range of hot and cold food, ice creams and cakes all at a reasonable price. There is also picnic benches meaning families can choose to bring their own food which is great.
We definitely wanted to have a boogie at the Halloween Disco which was running every hour from 11am until 2pm. The disco barn was decorated brilliantly, when we entered the music was blasting and their was bubbles everywhere, the kids thought it was amazing. As well as hearing some of the kids favourite songs (anyone have any Baby Shark fans?), we were taught some dance moves, the kids got some sweets and prizes were given out to the best fancy dress.
After the disco the kids made scary masks and even had a photoshoot where the three of them flew over the pumpkin patch!
Don’t forget about the swings, beach area (inside and outside sand pits) and slides, tractors and coin operated diggers! There was absolutely loads to keep the kids entertained! We got there for 10am when it opened and left just before 2pm.
Tickets are on sale for the Halloween Pumpkin Festival right now until October 31st! Pre book your tickets now here, there will be a limited number of tickets available each day on the door.
