Aladdin Panto – Manchester Opera House Review

Everyone loves a good panto! And it was great to be back in Manchester for the panto at the Opera House this week. Running until the 2nd January 2022, it’s everything you could wish for in a pantomime.

Follow Aladdin on a spectacular adventure he’ll never forget, with flying carpets, a wish-granting genie, an evil sorcerer and plenty of festive magic. Featuring a lamp-load of comedy, jaw-dropping special effects, sensational songs and plenty of boos and hisses, the whole family will enjoy.

Singer Alexandra Burke stars as Scherezade, who absolutely blew me away! She was spectacular. In her solo performances of Hallelujah and Bad Boys it was like being at a pop concert, she was amazing. She was also really funny, especially her scene with Ben Nickless and their dance off! That was one of the best parts of the whole panto.

It was great to see the return of Ben Nickless who played Wishee Washee. They kids absolutely loved him! Actually ignore that, everyone absolutely loved him! He is hilarious. From start to finish, you know something funny is about to happen if Ben is on the stage! His impressions are extremely impressive- worth seeing the panto for his performance!

The entire cast were great, the singing and dancing were outstanding. There was some very impressive special effects throughout including Aladdin (played by Matthew Croke) flying on a magic carpet over the audience. There is also a giant snake, bubbles, flames and so much more! It’s certainly not to be missed!

I loved everything about it and it you love panto, you’ll love it too!
