The Cat and The Canary- Review Manchester

Last night I was at the Opera House Manchester to see the classic thriller The Cat and The Canary. This show is on now until 30th October, for tickets see here.

Twenty years after the death of Mr West, his descendants gather to learn who will inherit his vast wealth and the hidden family jewels. Within moments, the heritage hunters turn into prey. Walls crack open, shadows loom and dark secrets are revealed!

This stage thriller has also been a movie, not that I’ve heard of it before. My dad has, and I invited him to see it with me. He also recognised most of the cast too including a Bond Girl!

International superstar Britt Ekland played Mr West’s loyal housekeeper Mrs Pleasant. She was creepy and funny, especially when she spoke to Mr West beyond the grave! Tracy Shaw, Maxine in Corrie, played Annabelle West- a potential heiress and the most glamorous guest. The rest of the cast had their own quirks and their own reasons for wanting to be there.

There was plenty of jump out of your seat moments! The mix of comedy and fright was just right. A great night out and I bet your can’t figure out whodunnit!
