What’s On Around Oldham, Tameside and Greater Manchester This Summer

FREE Days Out And Things To Do With The Kids!

It’s been a while since I’ve put together a list of days out and things to take the kids to during the summer holidays. Hopefully this summer holidays we will all be able to get out and about a bit more!

I’ve started putting together this list of fab days out and kids activities- these are all FREE which is always a bonus for a busy half term.

I will be updating often and adding more as I hear about things. So keep checking back and please share with anyone with kids in the local area.

This years Summer Reading Challenge theme is Wild World Heroes and is heading online and to our local libraries very soon! Read more about the challenge and the Wild World Hero’s theme here. Online your child can pick an avatar, discover book recommendations, review books to get badges, play games, enter competitions and much more.

From Saturday 10th July you can sign up for the challenge at Tameside Libraries and collect a special challenge pack (Limited number of packs). I will update when I know more about Oldham Library.

Hop over to Stockport for the giant frog trail this summer. Will you find all 21 frog? Starts 23rd July. For more information see here. This was so much fun when they were last hopping all over Stockport town centre in 2019.

This summer head to Gallery Oldham for the Brick By Brick exhibition, full of artwork created with LEGO. You can check out some of my photos here (my kids keep asking can we go back and we’ve already been 3 times!). The artwork is pretty impressive plus there’s plenty of LEGO that the kids can actually play with. Brick By Brick is on now until 4th September, Tuesday-Saturday 10am-5pm. No booking and completely free. More information here.

This is always a lovely event. The Broadoak Hearts Trail is around Fletcher Moss park. Collect a trail sheet from the cafe in the park. Suggested donation is 1 and goes towards the local school. I love Fletcher Moss and I love trails- anything that keeps the kids happy when we’re out and about. You can check out pictures from previous heart trails here.

Postcode of park- M20 2SW. There’s a very small free car park, but I usually find street parking easily enough. Starts 22/7/21 and is on until 6/9/2021.
