Lightopia Festival Manchester 2021

Lightopia returned to Manchester Heaton Park last month with it’s Brand New Christmas Fantasy Lights Festival. My family and I were invited for a preview and we were so excited!

The award-winning Lightopia will return with its flagship event in Manchester, for the third year, with a brand-new enchanting light and lantern festival; presenting a Christmas Fantasy at Heaton Park. The never-before-seen, illuminated trail will feature magical and multi-sensory interactive lights, lanterns and installations, illustrating a story of an imaginative and fantasy festive world.

Tickets are on sale now, the trail ends January 3rd 2022. When booking tickets, you can pre-book car parking or pay on the night. After parking, we wrapped up warm and the kids grabbed their light up wands before heading to the entrance.

Our tickets were checked and we were in! I usually try to avoid fun fairs and rides at all costs but unfortunately its hard to avoid as its the first thing you come across and have to walk through the get to the entrance. My kids were amazing luckily, I explained that we were going to spend a load of money straight away, lets wait to see what else there was to spend our money on. (1 ride or 1 go on Hook a Duck was £4.50!)

At the entrance there were several reasonably priced food vendors selling everything from sweets, candy floss, wraps, burgers, hot chocolates. After treating ourselves to some doughnuts we were in!

From start to finish we loved it! There was music and oh so many lights. From interactive lights, walkways, projections….. there was so much to see!

The kids loved the colourful walkway trail, they marched up and down the multi-colourful path for ages and ages. The beautiful dragons were spectacular, they were 40m long and looked like they weaved in and out of the grass- very clever!

Favourites of ours would have to be the field of lights- thousands of colourful lights moved with music. It was very impressive. Also the Lakeside Water Show certainly is a must-see, absolutely amazing! It looked like fireworks in the water! There was also a gorgeous archway of lights which was gorgeous. Everyone wanted a family selfie under the lights, it was truly spectacular.

Towards the end of our trail we decided to take a tram ride. It was priced at £10 for up to 6 people which I thought was a great price. The tram ride was around a 15 minute loop, taking us past the lights and back.

Tickets to this absolute treat of a light trail is on sale now. Don’t forget to head to my instagram page and check out my highlighted stories for much more on our visit.

My family and I were gifted these tickets and invited to come along. My review is my own views.
