We always forget about Gallery Oldham. You probably know how much we love Oldham Libraries, there’s so much on for children and families. There’s also plenty to do with Gallery Oldham.
In the school holidays there’s always half term activities which are free and lots of fun, we have been to many of them! There’s also things on during the weekends such as Super Saturdays and The Small Cinema. See here for more details.
It’s the actually galleries that I always forget about. It wasn’t until our recent trip to the library for a half term session, that I spotted a sign about a flamingo trail around the galleries. A trail? Well you all must know how much my children (and I) LOVE a trail! We were there!

We collected a trail leaflet from the library lobby and headed up into the galleries. There was 6 flamingos to find (one of which was in the library) and the kids loved it. The Fabulous Flamingo Trail is on until early September.
What I had forgotten was how child friendly the gallery is. Round each corner are little stations especially for children filled with colouring sheets or jigsaws. There’s plenty of dressing up opportunities too and even some hands on exhibitions which is fab.
Me and my little ones had a fab afternoon and we’ll definitely be back. Entrance to Oldham Gallery is free which is great for the school holidays. There’s plenty of space for proms throughout the whole library and gallery plus a large cafe on the ground floor.
It’s definitely well worth a visit this half term!
