Everyone loves the film! We all know and love the story between pop diva Rachel Marron and her bodyguard Frank Farmer.
Earlier this week, The Bodyguard The Musical opened in Manchester and I saw the press night performance with my husband. The Palace theatre was full and the atmosphere was exciting!

X Factor’s Alexandra Burke starred as Rachel Marron, a role she first played in 2014. Her performance blew the audience away! She made the role her own with her singing, dancing and acting. Her voice was powerful enough for the huge Whitney songs that she absolutely smashed! She’s certainly a superstar in my eyes.

Emily Willow played Rachel’s sister, Nicki Marron. Emily had a phenomenal voice, there’s no surprise she also understudies the lead role. The duet she did with Alexandra Burke was spectacular.
Frank Farmer was played by Ben Lewis, which even in a musical, was a non-singing part. He played the role well, the audience wanted the two of them to have the happy ever after they deserved.
I thought the set design was extremely clever, the use of lighting especially when the stalker was on stage was fantastic. The audience were left feeling tense whenever the stalker was creeping around.
The whole performance felt like a mix between a pop concert and a dramatic play! Some of Alexandra’s costume changes happened right on stage, switching from comfy clothes to red sequin dresses within seconds.
The ending was so much fun. The entire audience were up on their feet to watch the cast perform to ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’. Alexandra Burke put on a fantastic show leaving the audience on a massive high!
The Bodyguard The Musical is showing now until January 4th 2020 at the Palace Theatre Manchester, see here for information and booking.

I was gifted tickets to see this musical in return for an honest review
