The Gruffalo live at The Lowry

A mouse took a stroll through the deep dark wood……

Everyone knows the story of the Gruffalo. Why, the Gruffalo? Don’t you know?! He’s at the Lowry theatre now until Sunday 21st August. (Based on the picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler).

Me and the kids were invited to the theatre to check out The Gruffalo live at the Lowry, and we were very excited!

Join Mouse on a daring adventure through the deep, dark wood in Tall Stories’ magical, musical adaptation of the classic picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.

Searching for hazelnuts, Mouse meets the cunning Fox, the eccentric old Owl and the high-spirited Snake. Will the story of the terrifying Gruffalo save Mouse from ending up as dinner for these hungry woodland creatures? After all, there’s no such thing as a Gruffalo – is there?

This much-loved book (a favourite in our house) has lovingly been brought to life on the stage so that children and their grownups can fall in love with the tale all over again.

Suitable for children over 3 years old, we loved it. There was plenty of songs and fun to keep us entertained. It’s cleverly done with only a small cast of 3. Visually is was beautiful, from the colourful forest to the butterflies that turn from a green leaf to a bright butterfly.

This show is especially perfect for a little ones first trip to the theatre. All around us were very excited children all excited to see the much-loved character. I would say it’s a great show for children up to 7 (although my 10 year old quite happily sat and watched it). My twins are 6 years old and they really enjoyed it!

Perfect for any Gruffalo fan! For more information and tickets see here.
