Bolton Le Sands Canal Path and Morecambe Bay

This weekend we’ve been up at the caravan in Bolton Le Sands, not too far out of Morecambe. On saturday we spent the day on the beach Morecambe which was fantastic!

Sunday morning we decided to go for a walk along the canal. Whilst me and daddy packed some snacks and drinks, Oscar and Isla watched for trains go past. The railway line runs right behind the caravan and the kids love it.

Joshua decided he wanted to spot things on our walk, so started to put together a list for a nature hunt. From ducks to horses he soon had a list to keep him busy on the walk.

We decided on a circular walk that we had done before but not in a long time. We left the caravan park and soon got onto the main road (Byepass Road) where we got onto the canal path.

It’s a lovely path for prams, cyclists and walkers, we love walking along it. You can even head into Lancaster along the canal if you liked! We walked the opposite way, towards Carnforth. Joshua soon spotted lots on his list, we saw plenty horses, boats, ducks and flowers. It’s a great path with lots of places to get on and off, we walked past The Royal pub which has a great play area in the beer garden. We have stopped here in the past.

This time we decided to get off the canal path just past the pub and walked down the road to Bay View Garden Centre. The weather was absolutely beautiful but with very little breeze we were all ready for a drink.

Bay View is a lovely Garden Centre with a great cafe. They offer a great breakfast, lunch and cakes. There’s plenty of room inside and out, lots of high chairs and baby change facilities, perfect for us with a big double pram.

Once we were all full, we headed towards the sea front to walk back towards the caravan site. The path is accessible for a pram which is great and there was even a lovely breeze! Just check out these views, does it get any better than this?

We soon got to Red Bank Farm car park, there’s another lovely cafe there. The kids love walking to Red Bank Farm to see the animals, there’s lots of rabbits, chickens and some pigs and goats. They have some gorgeous cakes too!

From here we had a short walk back to the caravan site. It’s such a lovely walk, full of the most amazing views!

Days like these remind us why Morecambe Bay is one of our favourite places to visit.
