Bluebell Walks Close To Oldham

Spring time transforms our favourite parks and gardens. We love walking through a sea of bluebells when we are out and about at the weekends. The best time to see bluebells is usually the end of April, early May. Our favourite place that has a spectacular bluebell walk, is Speke Hall.

Here is a list of places you can visit to enjoy a bluebell walk, I’ve added the distance from Oldham to give you an idea of long it would take you to get there.

Dunham Massey, Altrincham (40 minutes away)

One of my favourite places to visit in the National Trust property and gardens, Dunham Massey, we love the gardens all year round. During spring time you can take a walk in the garden to see over 10,000 plants, including a bluebell meadow. The largest collection of bluebells can be found under the oaks and witch hazels next to the Bog Garden.

Arley Hall, Cheshire (45 Minutes away)

We will be visiting Arley Hall this May for the Geronimo Festival. When you visit Arley Hall, you can enjoy huge carpets of bluebells and many other wild flowers in spring time. Take a walk through The Grove, Arley’s beautiful woodland garden.

Bluebell Cottage Gardens, Cheshire (45 minutes away)

Described as one of Cheshire’s best kept secrets, Bluebell Cottage Gardens is owned and managed by former BBC Gardener of the Year, Sue Beesley. Enjoy the wildflower meadows and bluebell woods, great for half a day out, tucked away down a quiet country lane.

Speke Hall, Liverpool (1 hour away)

Last May we visited the National Trust property and gardens, Speke Hall. We had a fabulous time in the maze and playground but we were pleasantly surprised with the beautiful sea of bluebells. We took the bluebell walk in the forest and it was a lovely display of gorgeous colourful flowers all around. We will definitely be visiting again this year.

Ruffold Old Hall, lancashire (1 hour away)

Another National Trust property and garden and one I’ve never visited yet, Ruffold Old Hall is in Lancashire. Enjoy a walk among the small woodland and carpet of bluebells this spring time in Beech Walk and the North Woods.

Rode Hall, Cheshire (1 hour and 10 minutes away)

I haven’t been to Rode Hall yet, hoping visit their spectacular gardens. Throughout April and May the bluebells and wildflowers are at their best, enjoy their bluebell walk through a magical woodland which is ideal for families! Their bluebell walk is named as one of the best in the country.
