World Book Day 2020 – 10 Easy Costume Ideas

Most schools will be celebrating World Book Day on the 5th March and love it or hate it, our children will probably be dressing up for the day!

Whether you can sew or don’t want to spend a fortune on expensive costumes, here’s a list of 10 really simple costume ideas:

1 Funny Bones- (Joshua dressed up as Mr Funny Bones in Reception)

Skeleton outfit from Halloween and a Funny Bones Head (made from card)

2 Matilda

Blue Dress, Red hair bow and a couple of books!

3 Gangsta Grannie

Black paint around eyes and old pair of glasses, ‘Granny style’ clothes eg blouse, black shirt and old slippers, baggy tights, old bag/sack over shoulder.

4 Harry Potter

Black cape (check Halloween costumes) school tshirt and trousers, glasses, draw scar on head and a stick for a wand!

5 Tintin

Blue jumper, brown trousers and long socks. Gel hair in a quiff and hold a white toy dog.

6 Charlie Bucket (from Charlie and The Chocolate Factory)

Scruffy Clothers and a handmade golden ticket! Easy!

7 The Boy in a Dress

A dress and a football!

8 Angelina Balerina

A tutu or pink dress, pink ballet shoes/slippers, white tights, hair bow and make some mouse ears from card!

9 Paddington Bear

Blue coat, rain hat, wellies, packed lunch case/small old suitcase and a marmalade/jam sandwich.

10 Captain Underpants

White underpants (over normal clothes) and a red cape!
