Everything You Need To Know About Blackpool Illuminations 2021

I can’t believe it’s almost that time of year again! Friday 3rd September, the Blackpool Illuminations get switched on and we’re so excited!

Between the 3rd September 2021 and 3rd January 2022, Blackpool promenade is lit up with thousands of lights stretching for six miles! There’s even plenty of new additions and displays for 2021 including the Spiral Light Tunnel and Illuminated Sandcastle and Beach Balls. To boost Blackpool’s tourism season, for the second year running, Blackpool Illuminations will be extended by TWO MONTHS! How exciting!

The Big Switch-On

The Switch-On concert will take place in the World Famous Blackpool Tower Ballroom. For information on who is performing see here. There’s a live stream for anyone without tickets too, from 8pm Friday 3rd September.

Best Places To Park

We always tend to head to Bispham and start at that end. We seem to be able to park on a side street near the Sainsbury’s. For information about a free parking coupon, check out Blackpool Illuminations Facebook page.

Family Friendly Places To Eat.

We love nothing more than getting fish and chips when we’re visiting the Illuminations! And don’t forget picking up some doughnuts. Yum yum! There’s a couple of fab chip shops where we like to start the lights at North Pier.

A few years back we stopped for a meal at Las Iguanas before the lights were switched on. If you’re looking for a family friendly restaurant, there’s plenty of choice towards Blackpool Tower and the main shopping area. You can choose from Nando’s, Pizza Express, Bella Italia and many more.

Enjoying A Tram Ride.

We love to jump a tram at some point of the evening whilst we are visiting the lights. We pay the conductor on the tram, just a warning they do get busy! Here’s all the information you could need about trams and tickets.
