GMP Museum open days

The Greater Manchester Police Museum is hosting open days every Tuesday and Thursday between July 24 and August 30.

The events run between 10.30am to 3.30pm and focus on different units within the police force from the North West Underwater Search and Recovery Unit to the Tactical Dog Unit and the North West Ambulance Service.

National Football Museum

The National Football Museum has lots of fun activities for kids of all ages including free Comic Animation sessions that are running every Friday throughout the school holidays.

Children can be inspired by the iconic work of cartoonist Steve McGarry and create their own short animated clips to impress family and friends.

The free sessions, from 12.30pm to 2.30pm, offer kids an easy way to learn the basics of animation, taking inspiration from the museum’s new comic book display Playing for a Draw.

The museum is free to enter but donations are welcomed.

National Football Museum, Urbis Building, Cathedral Gardens, Todd St, City Centre, Manchester, M4 3BG.

Summer Fun at the Museum of Science and Industry

Head to MOSI over the school holidays where families can join in a summer celebrating the Year of Engineering. With daily activities and shows, kids can hear from real engineers and join in a tower building challenge and soap making workshops.

There’s a special chance to meet engineers in action on Friday 3rd August and at a family weekend on August 25th and 26th, families can explore engineering’s weirder side, test their own inventive and creative skills, and meet the people who help build our world.

Also, between August 3rd and 19th, Power UP is back! The annual ode to retro gaming makes a welcome return, bringing consoles new and old for two weeks of seriously pixelated fun.

Year of Engineering events which are aimed at kids from five years plus, run from 21st July to 2nd September. Although activities are free in some instances booking is required.

Join him on his journey to Neverland, get more lost then you ever have before with the Lost Boys and maybe even help fight off some pirate baddies…

Come with us as you fly into an imaginative and absurd Neverland, where anything can happen…if you believe, and can cook it, of course.
